I pride myself on being one of the most highly organised Chemistry tutors on the internet. You will be hard pushed to find another tutor who has all the chemistry syllabuses as thoroughly prepared and well resourced as I have.
I cover most GCSE (triple award and higher tier), IGCSE, AS-Year 1, A2-Year 2 syllabuses.
I do not offer tuition for Key Stage 3.

Summary of types of available tuition
1-to-1 tuition
- in 1-to-1 tuition (Limited number of places), I can focus entirely on the needs and learning style of each individual student
- the theory taught is always syllabus specific
- each lesson is bespoke to the needs (strengths, weaknesses, and learning preferences) and pace of the individual student
- I can be flexible with the content of each lesson to meet that student’s requirements in any lesson
- students are able to contact me outside of lessons if they have any small problems with any of the theory taught or any past paper questions
- 1-to-1 will build a good rapport between the student and myself. This helps the student to relax and grow in confidence

paired or group tuition
- it is more affordable than 1-to-1 tuition!
- in addition to the paired / group lesson, I will run a free 10 minute 1-to-1 session on a Saturday afternoon, which students can book to address any problems with the theory covered in their lessons
- the theory taught is always syllabus specific
- recordings of lessons will be sent to any student who is absent from a paired / group lesson
- students have access to a video course to help them prepare in advance for each lesson
- students have access to past paper questions on each topic
- students are able to contact me outside of lessons if they have any small problems with any of the theory taught or any past paper questions
- working with others gives students confidence and the chance to learn from other students' questions and responses

Tuition costs per hour
With regard to my price structure, I feel that I offer my tuition at a very fair and competitive price for the wealth of experience and knowledge that I have gained over the last 30 years of teaching.
I am aware that there are cheaper options out there but I do feel that the phrase "you get what you pay for" is often the case. Many cheaper tutors are students or people with no experience of working in education either as a teacher or as an A-level examiner.

Good time to start Chemistry tuition!
Most of the students in my timetable start their tuition in late August / start of September, enabling then to sync their learning with what is being taught in school. Early enrolment guarantees a slot in my timetable, sets a solid foundation in the theory, and helps prepare the students for the more advanced concepts. This empowers the students to perform to the best of their ability in their upcoming school tests and mocks.
It can be problematic for students when they try to start their tuition with me well into the academic year due to experiencing problems with their Chemistry theory. Very often, at this stage, it is difficult to find space for them in my weekly timetable.
If I do manage to accommodate them, it will be necessary for me to reteach the problematic theory, distracting the student from what is currently being taught in school. This can be stressful for the student and add to their already heavy workload.
I highly recommend that students start their tuition with me at the start of the academic year whenever possible.
Also, for students embarking on studying A-level Chemistry, I strongly recommend starting their tuition at the start of Year 12 in order to set down good foundations and work habits. Mocks at the end of Year 12 are often used to predict grades for UCAS applications. Therefore, a consistently high level of achievement throughout Year 12 is essential, particularly for those students wanting to be predicted top grades with a view to studying Medicine, Veterinary science etc.

The powerpoints used in my tuition are created from scratch and are entirely unique to me. They are syllabus specific, highly detailed and very thorough in their explanations, giving students the potential to access the top grades .
I firmly believe in leaving nothing to chance and 'no stone unturned' .
I am confident that you will be happy with my live 1-to-1 or group lessons, however, if for any reason you do not wish to continue after the first lesson, I will fully refund the lesson fee.
Students who take my live tuition will also get access to my Video Courses for the topics they have
fully covered in their live lessons only.
Students who only have the odd lesson, or who just come to me prior to the exams for past paper practice, are unlikely to qualify for the complementary videos as they will not be going through complete topics with me.
Group tuition
Group tuition works incredibly well and is becoming increasingly popular.
If students who already know each other want to form a group, then they can approach me to be tutored together but still in the comfort of their own individual homes.
If a student has a preference for group tuition but does not have a partner(s) to form a group, I am happy to start lessons with that student at the charge of a 1-to-1 lesson fee in order to guarantee them a place in the timetable. This fee would continue until the student or myself find other student(s) to join the group. Although I would do my best to find suitable students to make up a group, I cannot guarantee that this would be possible.
Group tuition works best for each student when all members of the group start together at the start of each academic year.
NEW From September 2024, for students who choose group tuition, I will run a "drop in" on Saturday afternoons to answer any little problems or questions that the students may still be having based on the theory we are studying in the group sessions. It gives each student about 10 minutes of 1-to-1 time. Please note: this time will not be for answering students' homework questions which their school has set.
